For many, it wouldn’t be summer without the opportunity to spend an exciting week at Vacation Bible School. But if you haven’t ever experienced VBS, it isn’t your typical school at all – unless your school includes crazy skits, energetic songs, yummy snacks, and challenging games! Here at Kenosha Bible, we pack all this into 5 exciting mornings where a caring staff gives their all to show kids God’s love. This year, our VBS kids will join us to journey to a far off rainforest – re-created at KBC!
While we can’t duplicate a true rainforest within the walls of Kenosha Bible, we will help your imagination along with jungle sights and sounds (but no poisonous snakes or biting spiders, we promise!). In this environment, we will learn lessons from Jesus about the relationship He wants with us that leads to new life, and how to live this life out in our everyday world. Get ready for an adventure that will build a foundation for spiritual growth for years to come!
You may pre-register on the form in this edition of the KBC KidsNews newsletter, or you may complete the on-line registration at kenoshabible.org. Once registered, your child will be invited to take part in the “Adventurer’s Challenge,” where they will receive Bible-based assignments via e-mail. Those completing all 4 levels of the challenge will be designated “Veteran Rainforest Rangers,” and receive a special prize.
When you register, you may request that your child be placed in a group with a friend – as long as the friend is in the same age range (Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grade, 3rd & 4th grade, or 5th & 6th grade) and that the friend also requests your child (friends must request each other).

“Group With A Friend” Policy
We want to make our VBS a place where kids feel comfortable, and being with a friend helps that to happen. We also want to do our best to avoid switching children from one group to another during the VBS week. To accomplish these objectives, you may request that your child be placed with one friend, and we will do our best to honor this request as long as the following are true:
- Your child’s friend also requests them (they must request each other). It is the parent or guardian’s responsibility to arrange for this. If the request is not reciprocal, no guarantees can be made about placement.
- They are in the same age grouping. For each age, we have multiple groups to allow for the smallest group size feasible. Our groupings for VBS here at KBC are for kids entering:
- Kindergarten (3 groups last year)
1st & 2nd grade (4 groups last year)
3rd & 4th grade (4 groups last year)
5th & 6th grade (3 groups last year)
- Because of the importance and challenge of establishing even sized groups, we cannot honor requests that include more than one friend, or requests after Wednesday, July 21st (the pre-registration deadline).
T-shirt orders!
Each year, we produce a colorful VBS T-shirt that will help the kids remember the fun of the week and the lessons that they learned. The shirts are 50/50 poly/cotton, and include graphics front and back related to our week together. The shirts may be ordered at the time of registration; you may either send payment in advance to the church office at KBC, or pay when you pick the shirts up the first morning of VBS (shirts won’t be available until that day). The cost of this year’s shirt is $6.00, and they are available in children’s and adult sizes listed. SHIRT ORDERS MUST BE RECEIVED BY SUNDAY, JULY 11th!
There is no requirement to order the shirts, but since many of the kids enjoy them so much, we wanted to make the ordering process as easy as possible.

VBS Family Night
You are invited to come and experience the excitement of VBS! There will be a chance to sing some of our songs, hear about the Bible lessons, and even see some crazy characters from our daily skit. You can meet your child’s Kids’ Camp guide and see their classroom up close and personal. We will then wrap up the evening with dessert! Please plan on attending – we’d love to see you!

Our afternoon VBS Plus – designed to help leaders get to better know the older kids involved in VBS – has been a hit every year! VBS Plus will again be offered on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (July 27th and 29th) for the upper elementary school-aged kids (entering 3rd through 6th grades). VBS Plus will feature exciting outings, with themes of:
Tuesday, July 27th: Round Day!
For this afternoon, we will be spending time playing
with balls of all sizes. After lunch, we will play some unique ball
games here at the church, then head off to the Guttormsen Recreation
Center for some bowling, and a snack close by! We will return to
the church to end the afternoon with more activities with round objects,
where we will wrap things up by 5:30 p.m.
Thursday, July 29th: Action Day!
Our second afternoon
will feature a trip out to Action Territory! Admission there will
include miniature golf, as well as water wars, laser tag and more. (One note: we will not be doing the paint ball activity.) Following
an afternoon full of adventure, we will return to the church by 5:30
p.m.
Some important notes:
- VBS Plus is open to all kids entering 3rd grade and above.
- To ensure a quality program, enrollment is limited to the first
49 kids.
- Registration is complete only upon payment of the fee. If a
registered child will not be able to participate, refunds will
be made if the spot can be filled.
- Each child must provide their own lunch and drink for both days.
- The cost of the program is $25 per child – this includes all
admission fees, transportation and snacks.
- Children must wear non-marking SHOES and SOCKS on Tuesday, and are strongly advised to bring sunscreen for Thursday.
- Kids are NOT to bring extra money either day!!
