Club – Spring Hikes
Because relationships between leaders
and clubbers are important to us, we are scheduling outings for
all Sparks and their leaders! We will be going on hikes at Lake
Andrea in Pleasant Prairie and Poerio Nature Center at 20th Ave. and 15th St. (behind Bose Elementary School).
All Sparks and their families are invited
to join us for a relaxed time of hiking, getting to know each other,
and playing. The dates for the hikes are:
- Sunday,
April 13th from
1:00 to 2:30 p.m. -Meet at the playground just east of the south entrance to
Lake Andrea. Since the path is paved, we will hike rain or shine
(lightning excepted) - please dress for the weather.
- Saturday, April 26th, from
10:00 – 11:30
a.m. - Meet at the Poerio Park parking lot off 20th Ave. The path is gravel but could still be muddy if it keeps raining. We will hike rain or shine (lightning excepted) - please dress for the weather.
A couple
important notes: 1). A Sparks hike is required to complete one
of the green jewel sections in each of the books. 2). Families
(including siblings not in Sparks) are welcome; however, if you
will not be coming with your Sparkie, please contact Director Lori
Roberts (262-657-1397)
to make arrangements.
AWANA Grand Prix and Boat
Races
This year’s T&T clubs Grand Prix and Sparks Boat Race
will be held on Friday Night, April 18th. We are encouraging
all clubbers to build a car or boat and participate in the race. And
we also are encouraging all adults (leaders, LITs, and parents)
who would like to build a car to participate as well! T&T
Car kits are on sale before or after club at the visitor registration
desk in the East lobby each week for only $2.00, and Sparks kits
are available for $1.00 in the Sparks office (room 203). You
will receive more details about construction when you purchase
a kit. A workshop to assist with car building will be held
at KBC in the morning on April 12th. At the races, Grand
Prix awards will be given for speed and in two design categories:
those that look like cars and those that are creative (un-car-like),
with separate awards for T&T boys, T&T girls and leaders/parents. The
Sparks boats awards will be presented for fastest and best designed.
We will start the evening of the 18th with an optional $2 per person
pizza dinner starting at 5:00 p.m. Please RSVP for the dinner
at the registration desk or by contacting Pastor Rick, we want to
make sure we have enough food! The Grand Prix car weigh in
and inspection and the boat check in will be from 5:00 to 6:20 p.m. Races
for both groups begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.! If you have questions,
