At KBC, during the summer we have some extra lively learning and fun planned for our Kenosha Bible kids in Power Zone! This year, in spite of the delay in the end of the school year, our summer programs officially bega on Sunday,
June 8th.
For Our Younger
Kids
This summer we will be using a curriculum called “My Great Big God” for all children 2 years old through those entering kindergarten this fall. The most effective way young children learn is through play, and “My Great Big God” is designed to give each child a chance to explore Bible truths in a way that involves the whole child.
Our format will also be somewhat different from that of the regular school year and from previous summers. During each service, the kids begin in their classrooms with free play and a few activities. At 9:00, the Gentle Glows and Light Rays will be combined in 218A, and the Bright Beams and Son Lights will be combined in 215; at 10:30, each of these classes will be separate (Gentle Glows in 218B, Light Rays in 218A, Bright Beams in 215 and Son Lights in 214). Next will come a Bible lesson time (at 10:30, the Gentle Glows/Light Rays and Bright Beams/Son Lights will be combined for the lesson), and then the groups will return to their rooms for crafts and activities. The groups will not rotate to different learning centers this summer as they have in previous summers. We are excited about showing God’s love to your children, helping them use their imaginations, and having fun together learning more about God. If you have any questions, please call Pastor Rick at the church office (262-652-4507) or
at
PastorRick@kenoshabible.org.
And For Our Elementary School Kids…
We will begin the summer on sc, with everyone in our elementary school graduating to their new grades. The 2007-2008 5th graders will move up to Middle School for Sunday mornings (we’ll miss you!), meeting in room 103, and K – 4th grade kids will move up to be bigger 1st – 5th graders. Then…
…At 9:00, All elementary school kids will be combined into one large, energetic group for the summer. We will be going with friends from K.I.D.S. Church on a time-warp trip back to the days of the early church, and learning about some of the highlights of the last 23 books of the Bible (Acts through Revelation)! All older kids will meet together in room 115/116 (PARENTS, NOTE CHANGE OF CLASS LOCATION!!) for a combined time of singing and teaching, and a smaller group activity time. The older kids (entering 3rd grade and up) will be dismissed on their own. As part of our safety policies, parents – please come pick up your 1st and 2nd grade kids in room 115/116 after 1st service.
…At 10:30, Elementary school kids will begin in the worship services. After the worship time, they will have 2 options: first, they may participate in Children’s Church. Following dismissal from the services, we will meet room 115/116 (where we have been meeting recently for Children’s Church) for the lesson from the early church, repeated from the 9:00 classes. As part of our safety policies, parents – please come pick up your younger kids (1st and 2nd grade) in room 115/116 after the services.
Alternatively, elementary school children (especially
those who were in Power Zone at 9:00) are strongly encouraged to stay in “Big Church” for the message and complete a worship page designed for kids in 2nd grade and above (available at the information centers). Any kids interested may do the pages – they aren’t limited to elementary kids alone. The completed pages should then be turned in to Pastor Rick or put in his church mailbox. Why return the pages? For those who complete more than 5 pages over the course of the summer, we will hold a special pizza/ice cream/video party in the fall!
| Note: to help with the transition from Children’s to Student ministries, at 10:30 the new 6th graders are still welcome to participate in Children’s Church for the summer. |
