At KBC, during the summer we have some extra lively learning and fun planned for our Kenosha Bible kids in Power Zone! This year, since we have our outdoor family service on June 13th, our summer programs officially begin on Sunday, June 20th.
For Our Younger Kids…
This summer we will be using a curriculum called “My Great Big God” for all children 2 years old through those entering kindergarten this fall. The most effective way young children learn is through play, and “My Great Big God” is designed to give each child a chance to explore Bible truths in a way that involves the whole child.
Our format will also be somewhat different from that of the regular school year (but similar to last year). During each service, the kids begin in their classrooms with free play and a few activities. At 9:00, the Gentle Glows and Light Rays will be combined in 218A, and the Bright Beams and Son Lights will be combined in 215; at 10:30, each of these classes will be separate (Gentle Glows in 218B, Light Rays in 218A, Bright Beams in 215 and Son Lights in 214). Next will come a Bible lesson time (at 10:30, the Gentle Glows/Light Rays and Bright Beams/Son Lights will be combined for the lesson), and then the groups will return to their rooms for crafts and activities.
We are excited about showing God’s love to your children, helping them use their imaginations, and having fun together learning more about God. If you have any questions, please call the church office (262-652-4507) or e-mail

And For Our Elementary School Kids…
We will begin the summer on June 20th, with everyone in our elementary school graduating to their new grades. The 2009-2010 5th graders will move up to Middle School for Sunday mornings (we’ll miss you!), meeting in room 201, and K – 4th grade kids will move up to be bigger 1st – 5th graders. Then…
…At 9:00, All elementary school kids will be combined into one large, energetic group for the summer. We will be learning about “Metamorphosis: a God directed, Life Changing Production” by studying the transformation of our attitudes, our talk, the way we work, and our relationships through advice from the book of Proverbs. We will meet together in room 216 (the normal 9:00 elementary opening room) for a combined time of singing and teaching, and smaller group activities. As part of our safety policies, parents – please come pick up your kids in room 216 after 1st service (1st and 2nd graders must be picked up by a parent). Older kids (entering 3rd grade and up) will be dismissed on their own once families have picked up their children.
…At 10:30, Elementary school kids will begin with their families in the worship services to spend some time connecting as a family with the Lord (parents, please make sure your child(ren) aren’t wandering the halls!). After the worship time, they may remain in the service with their parents, or they may participate in Children’s Church. Following dismissal from the services, we will meet room 216, the normal Children’s Church room, for the “Metamorphosis” lesson, repeated from the 9:00 class. (If your child attended at 9:00, we would encourage you to have them attend the worship service with you.)
At the end of the lesson time, the children may choose either a coloring project or an active game. Because room 216 isn’t large enough for both activities, those children choosing coloring will move to room 203, and will be picked up there, while those doing the game will remain in room 216. To make pick up easier, there will be a board next to room 203 displaying the name cards of those children coloring, so parents may pick them up without going to room 216. All 1st and 2nd graders must be picked up by a parent; older children will be dismissed once families have picked up their children.
Also, to help with the transition from Children’s to Student ministries, at 10:30 the new 6th graders are still welcome to participate in Children’s Church for the summer. |
